How Telegram login codes are delivered — Top Virtual Number for Telegram
Telegram often sends login codes to an already logged-in device first, with SMS or a call as other routes, so a temporary number matters most at sign-up.
The usual delivery routes
Telegram can deliver a login code in several ways. Practice varies by account, device and region, so treat this as general guidance.
- In the app, to another device where you are already logged in.
- By SMS to the phone number on the account.
- By a phone call, often offered when SMS does not arrive.
When you already have an active session, Telegram commonly sends the code there first. A new account has no other session, so the first code usually goes by SMS. Telegram may also offer other options on some accounts, such as an email login. Check what the login screen shows you, because the available routes can change over time.
What changes with a temporary number
A temporary number receives SMS for a limited window. VoIPStore says the number stays reserved long enough to receive the code, typically up to about 20 minutes. It sells these numbers for one-time verification, with no renewal.
After that window, do not expect to receive SMS on the number again. Do not plan around call delivery either, unless the official site says it applies; confirm it there.
The practical answer is to keep an in-app route open. Stay logged in on a device you own. Turn on two-step verification with a recovery email. If you need the number itself later, look at a long-term rental in VoIPStore's Telegram bot, @VoIPStoreBot.
An illustrative check
Run this on an account you created yourself. Keep your main device logged in. On another device you own, start a login with the same number.
Record which route Telegram offers first: in-app, SMS or call. Record whether the code appeared in the app on your main device. Then cancel or finish the login, and review the active sessions list in settings. End any session you do not recognize.
If only SMS is offered, do not log out of your main device until you have another route set up. This is a proposed check, not a reported VoIPStore test. See VoIPStore's official site for its current terms on reservations and refunds.
